On April 11, Vincent Torres, president of the ASA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ Board of Trustees, provided the following update to ASA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ employees, families and the community:

Dear ASA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ community,

The Austin SA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ Board of Trustees met this past Monday in open session and Tuesday in executive session to continue to discuss and develop a contingency plan should Dr. Meria Carstarphen be officially chosen to lead Atlanta Public Schools on April 14.

As part of our contingency plan, we have called for a special board meeting Tuesday evening, April 15, where we may consider two possible actions: naming an interim superintendent and approving a request for proposals from search firms. The public will be able to speak directly to trustees during Citizens Communication before the board takes any action at this meeting.
