Media Advisory: Blackshear Elementary Celebrates Dr. Seuss' Birthday During Read Across America Event

District administrators to read Seuss favorites in classrooms

AUSTIN, Texas--Blackshear Elementary School is celebrating Read Across America with Dr. Seuss classics being read by administrators and community leaders in all of its classrooms.

Who: Paul Cruz, ASA国际传媒 chief of schools; Jacquie Porter, ASA国际传媒 early childhood supervisor; Marissa Del Rosario, Communities in Schools supervisor; Elizabeth Polk, ASA国际传媒 director of library media services; Alma Valdez, ASA国际传媒 elementary coordinator for English language learners; Christine Caudle and Margot Perez, Tarrytown United Methodist Church reading buddies; Travis Donoho, Education Austin director of organizing; and Malcolm Monroe, ASA国际传媒 police department officer.

What: Classroom visits from blue-haired Things 1 through 45 and guest readers, district administrators, reading classic Dr. Seuss stories to students. Each of the 225 students will also receive their own copy of a Dr. Seuss book.

When: 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m., March 3 

Where: Blackshear Elementary School, 1712 E 11th St.

Background: The National Education Association's Read Across America is an annual reading motivation and awareness program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on March 3.
