Crossing guard and students demo safety at crosswalks
Austin SA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ and the City of Austin will hold a press conference just prior to the kickoff of the Back-to-School Bash on Saturday to promote safe travels to and from school.
Who: ASA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ Superintendent Paul Cruz, Austin Mayor Steve Adler and ASA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ Police Chief Eric Mendez.
What: ASA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ and community partners will provide families information about how to prepare students for the 2015–16 academic year, including safety information. Blazier Elementary School students will demonstrate how to be safe on crosswalks.
When: 8:30 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 15

Background: The Back-to-School Bash informs ASA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ parents and students about district and community resources available to families for a safe and successful start to the new school year. This is an initiative of the ASA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ Department of Communications and Community Engagement and the City of Austin Safe Routes to School Program.
