Ceremony at 8 a.m., April 15
The Austin SA国际传媒 Police Department will recognize a Guerrero Thompson Elementary School student on Thursday, April 15 with the organization's Community Member Lifesaving Award for his heroic efforts during the Longspur Crossing Apartments fire in January.
Fifth-grade student Damian Saabedra was the first to place a 911 call and alert other residents in the building of the need to evacuate. Damian will be the first elementary school student ever to receive the Austin SA国际传媒 Police Community Member Lifesaving Award.
